Prey, the new title from Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks now has a release date.
Serving as a soft reboot to the series after the cancellation of the long in development Prey 2, the game will be presented as a Sci-fi thriller/Survival horror adventure set on the alien infested Talos 1 research facility.
The latest Gameplay trailer:
The player takes control of protagonist Morgan Yu, with early gameplay indicating aesthetically sleek looking environments, new and interesting weapons and a way to harness alien powers called Typhons.
One Typhon showcased was entitled “the Mimic” which offers Yu the ability to “mimic anything that’s roughly the mass of the player or smaller, and that’s not bolted down,” according to Bethesda’s release.
A key plot detail also came in the form of Morgan Yu’s title of “VP, Director of Research for TranStar” which should have some entertaining implications for the plot with regards to how Yu will aquire some of these unique alien skills.
Several Locations aboard the station were also teased, including an arboretum where plants are kept on the station, and an industrial sector.
Prey will be available on May 5, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Those who preorder will receive the “Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack,” which includes the exclusive “Margrave Shotgun” and some extra supplies for your battle aboard the Talos 1.
Art fanatics and collectors should also know that Dark Horse, in collaboration with Bethesda, will be publishing “the Art of Prey” on June 27. As a companion piece for the game, the art book looks to give players an insider’s perspective on how the game was designed, from the aliens to the space station itself.
